Where it all begins.
Look, as proud Atlantans, we get it. Southern history is…well, messy. Our friends at Centennial Yards asked us to help them develop a brand value proposition and design an identity system that would represent Atlanta on the world stage. We knew that understanding and honoring our history would be mission critical to building a timeless brand to represent all that Atlanta has, and will continue to contribute to the world. Our history has often been troubling but it has always foundational to the story of our ambitions and our undeniable progress. We took this charge very seriously and felt we had a duty to shine a light on it in our work.
Centennial Yards, Where It All Begins.
Using our past to define our future.
Atlanta, originally called Terminus, was a rail hub representing the foremost technology of it’s time, the steam engine. The emerging rail system was a great leap forward in human technological advancement and this place, where Centennial Yards is now located, is the origin point of what would eventually become Atlanta. In the 1840’s a circle wye was created to help manage the ever increasing amount of rail traffic. A wye was an innovation in which two or more lines intersect to form a “Y” shape. The circle wye gave birth to Atlanta and fostered the growth of the original downtown.
Engineering an agile system for brand growth & wayfinding.
It was an honor getting to work on such an important development for our city and we look forward to continuing to do our part in pushing Atlanta forward.
